Brand Name: Didrex
Drug Name: Benzphetamine Hydrochloride
What is Didrex?
Didrex® is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar
to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic"
or "anorexigenic" drug. Didrex stimulates your
central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases
your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.
Sympathomimetic appetite suppressants are used in the short-term
treatment of obesity. Their appetite-reducing effect tends
to decrease after a few weeks. Because of this, these medicines
are useful only during the first few weeks of a weight-loss
program.
Didrex Side effects
Side effects that may go away during treatment include restlessness,
nervousness, difficulty sleeping, or dry mouth. If they
continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you
notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor,
nurse, or pharmacist.
